The peptide 5-amino-1MQ is a molecule
that blocks the activity of an enzyme called nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT).
NNMT plays a very important role in metabolism and energy production and is predominantly active in adipose tissue.
By blocking NNMT, 5-amino-1MQ stimulates an increase in nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), a central cofactor for cellular metabolism, thereby increasing the metabolic rate and activating a gene called sirtuin-1 (SIRT1).
SIRT1 is also known as the “longevity gene” because of its role in reducing the risk of:
– Diabetes
– Obesity
– Metabolic syndrome
– Arterosclerosis
– Cardiovascular disease
– Kidney diseases
– Liver diseases
– Neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.
According to research, mice treated with 5-amino-1MQ showed a 7 percent reduction in body mass without any change in food intake, compared with the control group.
The research showed that inhibition of the NNMT enzyme can help reduce both the number and size of adipocytes (i.e., fat cells).
This means that NNMT enzyme in effect activates slimming.
It is not easy to control or reverse excess weight and obesity because of changes in metabolism as we age.
These changes affect the body’s ability to break down fat stores to turn it into energy.
As a result, it can be more difficult to lose weight over time regardless of diet or activity levels.
The enzyme Nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) is a cytosolic enzyme that regulates cellular energy balance.
It plays the role of a catalyst in methylation, one of the ways in which the liver metabolizes certain compounds.
NNMT predominantly active in adipose tissue.
In some cancers, NNMT levels appear to correlate with an increased risk of death.
The NNMT enzyme slows the metabolism of fat cells, making it more difficult for the body to use fatty acids as an energy source.
At the same time, more fat tissue produces more hormones and pro-inflammatory signals responsible for weight gain and chronic disease.
In short, NNMT production increases as fat cells grow, making it more difficult to lose weight and facilitating fat accumulation.
Therefore, inhibition ofNNMT may be crucial in weight loss.
5-Amino 1MQ and NNMT
Researchers at the University of Texas tried various selective inhibitors of the NNMT enzyme, and 5-amino-1MQ proved to be the most effective:
- 5-Amino-1MQ can treat the root cause of weight gain and obesity because it inhibits NNMT enzyme activity.
- 5-Amino-1MQ also did not affect the activity of any other enzyme in metabolic cycles which reduces the risks of possible side effects.
The positive effects of 5-Amino-1MQ do not end, however.
Research has shown that the molecule can treat many other conditions.
In addition to body weight gain, scientists have discovered the correlation between the NNMT enzyme to other conditions such as:
- Heart disease
- Cancer
- Parkinson’s disease
- Neurological dysfunction
- Metabolic syndrome
- Kidney disease
While the research is still ongoing,
scientists have discovered some other potential benefits, including:
- Increases the proliferation and production of satellite cells in muscle tissue resulting in greater athletic power and contractile capacity.
- Lowers cholesterol
- Improves cellular energy
- Reduces inflammation
- Sustained increase in NAD+ levels. NAD+ is an anti-aging compound.
5-Amino-1MQ may be a good option for people who want to develop a comprehensive anti-aging plan. It stimulates an increase in NAD+ by increasing the metabolic rate and activating a gene called sirtuin-1 (SIRT1), the longevity gene.
SIRT1 can reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as:
- Heart, liver and kidney disease
- Metabolic syndrome
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Neurodegeneration
- Cancer
5-amino 1MQ can also increase wellbeing (general well-being).
People taking 5-amino 1MQ peptide report experiencing less body pain, more energy, and better concentration.
In summary, based on recent studies, 5-amino 1MQ inhibits NNMT activity, which may prevent fat accumulation, increase cellular metabolism, and reduce fat cells.
In other words, it has the potential to help reverse and prevent obesity, even for those who find it difficult to lose weight.
It also has the potential to treat various chronic conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes.
It may also have anti-aging benefits and improve athletic performance.
For 5-amino-1MQ to work most effectively for fat loss, subjects taking the drug would still have to be in a calorie-deficit condition although, in an experiment done on rats, scientists saw a 7% loss of fat mass in 8 weeks in rats with induced obesity treated with 5-Amino-1MQ, without changing diet, compared with those in the control group.
5-Amino-1MQ and muscle function
According to recent studies, 5-amino-1MQ promotes the production of the sugar transporter receptor GLUT4 and increases the efficiency of metabolism to burn energy.
Research in mice found that inhibition of NNMT, may promote muscle repair by activating stem cells.
Further research in aged mice indicates that the use of 5-Amino-1MQ produces significant activation of stem cells in muscle tissue.
Mice treated with this NNMT inhibitor recorded 70% more strength in healed muscle than control mice.
In addition to accelerating repair rates after injury, stem cell stimulation may also help the elderly improve mobility and reduce injury.
A link has also been shown between NNMT expression and muscle wasting diseases such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
By reducing NNMT levels, 5-amino-1mq could help alleviate the symptoms of such diseases.
Dosage of 5-Amino 1MQ
The general dosage directions for 5-amino-1MQ used in weight loss are 50 mg taken 3 times daily, preferably with meals, for a period of 90 days.
Benefits begin to be felt very quickly after treatment with 5-amino-1MQ begins, while tangible effects such as improved energy levels and increased fat burning become evident over weeks.
